Return to Issue Details This work proposes a reflection on the issue of orality as an important instrument in the communication process. The main focus was to understand how the teaching of orality has been structured within elementary education. It discusses the need to understand its relevance for the teaching and learning of the Portuguese language at this stage of education, reflecting on how essential it is for schools in forming well-articulated individuals in the oral modality. It also highlights the role of the teacher in the process of teaching and developing orality in students, citing the main problems and methodological suggestions that can improve this process. It discusses the need to understand the relevance of orality for the teaching and learning of the Portuguese language in elementary school. It is based on theoretical references that include the concepts of fundamental ethical principles of teaching orality.
